The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 30-year-old Curtis Ellington, who has moved from North Street in Middletown to an apartment on Grand Street in Newburgh.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Ellington as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent sex offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Ellington had sexual intercourse with his 7-year-old victim in November 2006. He was arrested and convicted of first-degree rape for having intercourse with a person under the age of 11 the following year in January and sentenced to a term of seven years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Middletown City Police Department.
